The nightlife in Playa del Carmen begins at 5th Avenue. It is a street above the beach. It is beautifully lit by the lights of the shops as well as the lights of the moon and stars. You can drink a beer on the street while watching the sun set. 5th Avenue, or La Quinta as it is called here can be thought of as a tropical and very beautiful 5th Avenue in Manhattan. All of your great stores, restaurants, clubs, and shops are lined up 5th Avenue. It is very safe to have fun in the heart of the Riviera Maya at night, because all of the bars and nightclubs are located around the same few streets. Plus the streets have a lot of security including police officers and government officers. The clubs and bars are away from the main highway, and you can easily and safely walk from bar to bar or club to club.

There are many different clubs and bars with different types of music. You can go to a bar that has Bob Marley and other Reggae music, or you can go to a club that has electronic music. They also offer clubs with music from the 80´s 90´s and today. Many of the nightclubs have a dance floor on the beach. The clubs here are a lot of fun.
